Kelly's Cancer Blog

Little update

I have not been on in a while, so I thought I'd update you all. Had my first post MRI in January and all was fine, my next one is April 5, so I have my fingers crossed! Past few months have been pretty good, random appetite problems sometimes but thats really it. I lost a total of 25 lbs and I was never big to begin with, but I am getting lots of compliments! Been working as much as possible at good ol' Pf Changs to pay off bills so I can go to Pennsylvania in May to see my grandma and friends. Hair is growing back, looks like a babys hair lol. I still have a love/hate relationship with my wig, my mom named her "hair-iet" like Harriet, to make me laugh lol. Whats funny is I get SO many compliments on my hair and the highlights, more than I ever did with my real hair. But I am nervous about the hot florida heat coming up soon, I won't be laying on the beach like I usually do. Also to any of you girls that lost your lashes/eyebrows....I bought this stuff called Neulash(get it cheaper on Amazon) but It really works! My lashes grew so fast and long they looked fake and I had to actually cut them! I have tried so many things and nothing worked like this! I also put it on my brows too and they came back nice; however, i would never give up my MAC brow pencil. I also take a Biotin pill(5000mcg) and that also works!

glad you're feeling good :) thanks for the tip!
Hi Kelly! I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well and making a good recovery from your treatment. As for the wig, I never went that route, instead I chose to wear a ballcap (which by the way looks very cool on the beach--something to think about!). Continue on the road to recovery young lady--I know you have this thing licked. Take care. Hugs-- Martha
Kelly, Glad your doing well! I don't know you and just stumbled tonight on this blog (I've avoided looking up brain cancer on the web in fear to read things that discourage and possibly make me think the worst) but my 11 year daughter has had similar experiences. Seizure in August 2010, complete tumor resection, radiation and chemo. She's a beautiful girl like you and she had had 3 clear perfect MRIs.
Dangnabits I'm a few days late but I still wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday! I hope you have a wonderful year ahead. ~TaraF

4 treatments left!!

I can't wait till I'm done, and get to go home for good! The 26th is officially my last treatment, I made cd's for the radiation crew with my pic on it(so they don't forget me!) and songs they liked that I played on my iPod which they heard during my daily treatments. Having MY music to listen to during treatments really helped out, especially this one song 'just the way you are' by Bruno Mars, always put a smile on my face when I was feeling down. Anyways they think I have a very positive outcome from this. They never actually found any cancer cells floating around but said that bc they could be microscopic, radiation will zap them. So let's hope so!
